The Story
The Glenlivet 20 Year Old Small Batch Cask Strength is a highly refined, limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky that showcases the pinnacle of flavor-focused blending from the iconic Speyside distillery. Matured for two decades in a hand-selected combination of first-fill American oak barrels, second-fill ex-Scotch barrels, and second-fill American oak hogsheads, this expression is crafted to maximize its vibrant orchard fruit and warm spice character. Bottled directly at its natural cask strength without chill filtration or artificial coloring, it offers an incredibly rich, concentrated, and unaltered presentation of the classic highland house style.
Food Pairing: Pan-seared duck breast with an orange-glaze reduction, roasted pork belly, artisanal pear and almond tarts, or premium aged Gouda cheese.
TASTING NOTES - A brilliant, deep golden straw color. It possesses a full-bodied, incredibly syrupy, and velvety mouthfeel that coats the palate with a luxurious warmth and oiliness due to its high proof and un-chillfiltered nature.
NOSE - A vibrant burst of juicy ripe pears, crisp red apples, and sweet cherries, layered beautifully with rich treacle sponge, golden syrup, soft clove spice, and a gentle touch of toasted American oak.
PALATE - Deeply concentrated and rich, delivering forward notes of spiced apple slices, caramelized figs, ripe purple plums, and fresh nectarines, all dripping in sweet toffee sauce and balanced by a warming wave of baking spices like cinnamon and nutmeg.
FINISH - Exceptionally long, rich, and syrupy with a beautiful continuation of the lush orchard fruit sweetness, fading slowly into elegant wood tannins and lingering baking spices.
SERVE - Best enjoyed neat at room temperature in a Glencairn glass. Given its robust cask strength, adding a few drops of pure, cool water is highly recommended to open up the bouquet and let the delicate fruit and honeyed layers expand.
