The Story
A magnificent and extraordinarily classy Spanish white wine masterfully crafted by Valenciso from 100-plus-year-old vines in the premier Rioja Alta region. A classic blend of 70% Viura and 30% Garnacha Blanca grown on ancient clay-limestone soils, it is fermented with native yeasts and aged beautifully on its fine lees for eight months in low-toast, steam-bent Caucasian oak barrels. It unveils an expressive bouquet of fresh stone fruits, white peaches, waxed lemon, crushed citrus peel, chalky saline minerals, and a fragrant touch of chamomile blossom and subtle vanilla spice.
Food Pairing: Pairs flawlessly with charcoal-grilled hake or turbot, roasted chicken with summer herbs, creamy seafood risottos, or light artisan goat cheeses.
92 Points - James Suckling
Light meringue on the nose with hints of marzipan, wet stones, fine lees and white fruit. Fresh and effortless on the mid-weighted palate, showing nice fluidity, good freshness and balance. Lightly minerally and creamy in the finish. Viura and garnacha blanca. Drink now or hold.
