$17.32The Story
The Urbina Gran Reserva Especial is an elegant, sophisticated, and deeply complex Old World red wine that beautifully captures the unique, iron-rich clay soils and historic traditions of Rioja Alta's oldest bush vines. It pours a beautiful dark ruby red colour with deep tawny, mahogany, and brick reflections in the glass, lifting with an immediate, aromatic bouquet of dried cherries, stewed plums, and black figs, seamlessly layered with complex undertones of sweet tobacco, cedar wood, worn leather, and damp forest floor. On the palate, this medium-to-full-bodied Tempranillo blend is remarkably smooth, juicy, and round, coating the mouth with pure, velvety intensities of dark stone fruits, balsamic notes, and hints of clove, nutmeg, and vanilla. Matured for decades across extensive time in oak barrels and bottle aging to maximize its structural depth and natural sophistication, it is driven by a finely balanced, food-friendly acidity and soft, polished noble tannins that carry into a long, persistent, and beautifully measured finish accented by a lingering touch of spice, licorice, and cocoa.
Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with a wide range of refined culinary options, including slow-roasted lamb shanks, grilled pork chops with wild mushroom ragù, prime cuts of beef steak, wild game dishes, rich stews, and aged artisanal Spanish cheeses like Manchego.
