The Glenlivet Rum & Bourbon Fusion Cask Selection is a highly innovative, category-first single malt released to kick off the distillery's historic 200th-anniversary celebrations. Breaking standard finishing conventions, The Glenlivet's cask experts worked alongside master coopers to physically dismantle premium first-fill rum barrels and first-fill bourbon barrels. The staves and heads from these completely separate barrels were then uniquely reassembled into new, bespoke "fusion casks." By finishing a selected portion of the traditional Speyside malt inside these deconstructed hybrid vessels, the distillery harmoniously fuses the bright, tropical fruit punch of rum with the smooth, rich vanilla-caramel DNA of American bourbon.
Food Pairing: Toffee-covered bananas, coconut shrimp, jerk chicken skewers, or classic vanilla bean crème brûlée.
TASTING NOTES Bright, vibrant gold in appearance with a soft, silky, and approachable medium body.
NOSE Bright and invitingly sweet, opening with prominent aromas of vanilla custard, rich caramel, and sweet orange zest, lifted by tropical hints of coconut and a touch of grassy brightness.
