The Story
A magnificent, rich, and beautifully smooth northern Italian red wine crafted by Piera 1899 from 100% Merlot grown in the mineral-dense, stony soils of Friuli. To enhance its extraordinary depth and velvety mouthfeel, a selected portion of the grapes undergoes an appassimento (air-drying) process for 60 days before blending. It pours a dense ruby red with light garnet highlights, opening with an intense bouquet of ripe black cherries, wild blackberries, and sweet plums, evolving into luxurious notes of raspberry jam, dark chocolate, and a hint of black pepper. The palate is full-bodied, dense, and remarkably soft, framing succulent dark fruit flavors with supple, delicate tannins and a harmonious, balanced finish.
Food Pairing: Pairs flawlessly with roasted game birds, grilled pork loin chops, pan-seared duck breast, or a platter of medium-aged cheeses.
