The Story

A magnificent Northern Italian red wine displaying an intense, brilliant ruby red color with a subtle, graceful pomegranate shimmer along the rim. Masterfully envisioned by oenologists Francesco Serafini and Antonello Vidotto at their historic estate in Nervesa della Battaglia, this signature "Phigaia" expression is a sophisticated Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon grown in the iron-rich clay and limestone soils of the Montello hills. The multi-layered nose opens with an incredibly rich bouquet of fresh Amarena cherries, dark wild blackberries, and ripe black currants. The complex nose is beautifully supported by regional characteristics of medicinal herbs, roasted peppers, fresh vanilla bean, pink peppercorns, and an elegant touch of freshly ground espresso coffee. On the palate, it balances a structural, medium-to-full-bodied dark fruit core and a vibrant, linear alpine acidity with remarkably smooth, round tannins, concluding in a beautifully persistent, dry finish marked by a clean streak of sweet licorice and savory earthiness.

Food Pairing: Pairs flawlessly with roasted lamb chops, rich meat ragùs, traditional Italian gnocchi, grilled red meats, and medium-aged cheeses.
