Emmanuel Rouget Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru 'Cros Parantoux' 2022 is a legendary, profoundly complex, and highly coveted French red wine that hails from one of the most famous and mythic premier cru climats in all of Burgundy. Originally brought to prominence by Emmanuel Rouget’s legendary uncle, Henri Jayer, this tiny, high-altitude parcel sits just above the Grand Cru Richebourg on a bed of shallow, limestone-rich soils. In the glass, it pours a deep, bright ruby-red color. The nose is initially tightly wound and backward, but with patience, it unfurls a mesmerizing, crystalline bouquet of crushed blackcurrants, dark red cherries, and blood orange zest, intricately layered with elements of crème de cassis, exotic spices, and a precise, stony minerality. On the palate, this medium-bodied masterpiece delivers a silky-smooth entry with phenomenal focus, deep concentration, and effortless balance. Matured entirely in 100% new French oak, its formidable tannic spine and vibrant, energetic acidity are seamlessly integrated, carrying its pure fruit and dark spice notes into a spectacular, lingering, and mineral-driven finish.
Food Pairing: This majestic and monumental Pinot Noir pairs exquisitely with upscale dishes such as classic roasted duck breast with a cherry or orange reduction (confit de canard), slow-cooked squab, roasted venison loin, wild mushroom and black truffle tarts, or premium semi-firm French cheeses like well-aged Comté and Gruyère.
