The Story

Redbreast Moscatel Wine Cask Edition is a bright, highly fragrant extension of the legendary Irish single pot still family, serving as the fifth chapter in the distillery's celebrated Iberian Series. Celebrating the historical trade connection between Ireland and the Iberian Peninsula, this limited edition departs from the darker, heavier dried-fruit tones of standard sherry releases. The liquid is initially matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and Spanish Oloroso sherry casks before undergoing an extended 16-month finish in premier Moscatel white wine casks sourced from the sun-drenched hills of Málaga's family-owned Bodegas Quitapenas. The ancient Muscat grapes pass a sunny, aromatic intensity to the wood, layering Redbreast's robust, creamy pot still spice with an extraordinarily elegant, floral, and honeyed lift.

Food Pairing: Pan-seared duck breast with an orange glaze, lemon shortbread biscuits, soft cheeses like young Gouda or Triple-Créme Brie, or mango-coconut tarts.

TASTING NOTES Luminous golden amber in color with a rich, velvety, and distinctly oily mouthfeel that nicely coats the palate before yielding a crisp, wine-driven dryness.

NOSE Exceptionally fresh, bright, and deeply aromatic; bursts with a vibrant combination of fresh honey, orange blossom, and honeysuckle, layered beautifully with zesty lime, baked lemon cookies, vanilla oak, and a warm dusting of nutmeg.

PALATE Viscous and juicy on the tongue, offering dominant notes of ripe stone fruits, tangerine, and sticky honeycomb, seamlessly transitions into a buttery pastry mid-palate (reminiscent of sweet brioche and panettone) balanced by pot still black pepper spice and a touch of dried green herbs.

FINISH Long and exceptionally clean with lingering trails of sun-soaked wine wood dryness, nutty hints of roasted hazelnuts, caramel, and trailing citrus oil.

SERVE Highly recommended to enjoy neat in a Glencairn glass to best appreciate its lifted, perfume-forward bouquet.
