The Story

Pol Roger Brut Vintage 2006 is an exceptionally structured, opulent, and beautifully matured vintage Champagne crafted from a traditional house blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay sourced from 20 illustrious Grand and Premier Cru vineyards across the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. Displaying an intense, deep golden-straw color with an remarkably fine and persistent stream of microscopic bubbles, this expressive cuvée opens with a powerful and highly complex bouquet of fresh honey, candied grapefruit, and stewed quince, layered harmoniously alongside richer evolved notes of warm brioche, roasted almonds, and light biscuit. On the palate, it exhibits a full-bodied, vinous, and creamy texture that seamlessly balances its voluptuous core of ripe stone fruits against a driving line of crisp, refreshing citrus acidity. Having spent a remarkable nine years aging in the house's deep, chalky cellars in Épernay, it culminates in an incredibly long, noble, and savory finish defined by a lingering trace of chalky minerality and toasted nuts.

Food Pairing: Pairs exquisitely with pan-seared chicken supreme with chanterelle mushrooms, sweetbreads cooked with morels, or rich foie gras served on toasted brioche fingers.

95 Points - Wine Enthusiast

It is the balance that stars with this wine. The fruit, acidity and mineral texture are held together in maturing harmony. Still young, the wine is still in the fruity spectrum and yet is very ready to drink now. The acidity and the link between the soft dosage and freshness are all in place. Drink now and until 2026.
94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Sourced in 20 Premier and Grand Crus of the Côte de Blancs and the Montagne de Reims, the 2006 Vintage Brut is a cuvée of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay that was aged for nine years in the 33 meters deep cellar in Epernay. The deep golden-colored wine offers a deep and vinous, very clear and elegant nose of sweet cherries, stewed and baked apples, ripe stone fruits, cinnamon, chalk, brioche, sweet paprika, orangeade and dashes of lemon juice. Full-bodied, rich and round on the palate, this is a creamy textured though pure and highly elegant, firmly structured, powerful and persistent Champagne; it has a noble and rested expression, as well as a long, noble finish. This is midnight Champagne for noble jazz clubs with fine piano music, or to be matched with noble cigars.

93 Points - James Suckling

This is already showing age with lots of pie-crust and quiche aromas and flavors. Full body. Rich and flavorful. Extremely long. Taking on aged character. Drink now.
