The Story
A beautifully precise, complex, and elegant red wine crafted by the visionary Dirk Niepoort to celebrate the unique maritime terroir of the Bairrada region. Sourced from a meticulous selection of old vines and younger plantings grown in classic chalky-clay soils, this 100% Baga wine is fermented in traditional stone lagares with partial whole-bunch inclusion before maturing for 20 months in large, neutral French oak vats (fuders). It displays a light, translucent ruby hue in the glass, opening with a highly expressive and noble bouquet of fresh red berries, wild cherries, and dried rose petals, seamlessly layered with complex undertones of damp forest floor, dark tea leaves, and a chalky, mineral-driven touch of flint.
Food Pairing: Exceptional alongside traditional roasted suckling pig (Leitão da Bairrada), duck confit, wild mushroom risottos, or slow-cooked game birds.
