The Story

Morlet Family Vineyards Coeur de Vallée 2020 is an exceptionally structured, elegantly powerful Napa Valley red wine masterfully crafted by winemaker Luc Morlet. Sourced from the prestigious Oakville AVA, adjacent to the legendary To Kalon vineyard, this beautifully concentrated 2020 release is composed of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Cabernet Franc. In the glass, it displays a deep, intense purple hue, opening with a highly expressive and complex aromatic bouquet of warm cassis, ripe black cherries, and blueberries, beautifully interwoven with nuanced layers of dusty loam, sweet blond tobacco, cedar, and dried lavender. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, plush, and incredibly expansive, delivering a creamy, rich texture and a remarkably deep core of dark fruit. It finishes with profound elegance and finesse, brilliantly framed by ultra-fine, velvety tannins and an enduring, sophisticated length.

Food Pairing:

Pairs beautifully with dry-aged ribeye steaks, roasted rack of lamb, rich beef bourguignon, wild mushroom truffle risotto, and mature artisanal cheeses.

95 Points - James Suckling

An impressively concentrated and structured red from a difficult vintage in Napa Valley. This one rises above the wildfire-smoke issues, showing powerful black-cherry, dried-blueberry and spearmint flavors and a creamy texture. Drinkable now and best from 2030.

95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Coeur de Vallee is 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Cabernet Franc, all grown on the family's estate vineyard in Oakville. Volumes were cut way back this vintage, to just 385 cases, but the wine is a beauty, marrying lovely black and red cherries with dusty loam scents on the nose. In the mouth, it's full-bodied, plush and expansive, finishing with a certain degree of elegance and finesse, accented by deep cassis flavors.
