The 2026 edition of this highly anticipated annual release marks only the second time it carries a prominent age statement, highlighting the distillery's growing inventory of beautifully matured stock. Named after the dark, peat-colored freshwater loch near the distillery, this single malt was crafted from a vatting of 24 Oloroso sherry butts (21 first-fill and 3 refill casks) sourced from Bodega José y Miguel Martín. The nose reveals a robust marriage of dried red fruits, barbecued meats, toasted walnuts, and rich, integrated peat smoke. On the palate, it delivers complex layers of candied orange, tropical fruits, salted caramel, and dried prunes, complemented by warming cinnamon and nutmeg. The finish is remarkably long and balanced, leaving notes of lingering spices, toasted dark chocolate, liquorice, and soft maritime peat smoke.
Food Pairing: Sticky barbecued ribs, slow-roasted venison, dark chocolate truffles with sea salt, or an intense mature cheddar.
