K Vintners The Creator Red Blend 2020 is a spectacular, deeply layered, and broad-shouldered Washington state red wine crafted by visionary winemaker Charles Smith. Sourced from the unique stony cobble soils of the Powerline Vineyard situated high up in the Walla Walla Valley, this classic blend is masterfully co-fermented using native yeasts. In the glass, it boasts an opaque ruby-purple color with an intense, evocative bouquet of black currants, dried cherries, and plum preserves, intricately woven with tobacco leaf, fresh wildflowers, and a hint of white pepper. On the palate, this full-bodied and robust wine explodes with immense pleasure and concentrated depth, showing a plush, velvety bed of tannins and a generous core of dark fruits. Balanced beautifully by a structural vein of stony minerality and rich savory elements, it undergoes 22 months of aging in 65% new French oak barriques to polish its components, resulting in a seamless, exceptionally long, and satisfying finish that is built for beautiful cellaring over the next decade.
Food Pairing: This robust and peppery red blend pairs outstandingly with slow-braised beef short ribs, grilled venison loin, thick-cut ribeye steaks, or rich wild boar ragù.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
This shows depth and complexity, with blackcurrants, blue plums, white pepper, currant bush, grilled herbs, nut shells and raw mushrooms. Better from 2025.
