The Story
Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné Crozes-Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert 2021 is an organically grown, elegant Northern Rhône Syrah produced from the appellation's oldest single vineyard. Reflecting a cooler and more balanced growing season, the wine shows a bright ruby-red profile with concentrated aromas of fresh blackberries, wild dark berries, and a distinct punch of black and green peppercorns. On the palate, it delivers a medium body loaded with succulent dark fruit, supported by remarkably supple, velvety tannins and integrated structural acidity that ensures an earthy, persistent, and long-lasting finish.
Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with classic roasted guinea fowl, herb-crusted rack of lamb, savory wild mushroom risotto, and selection of aged hard cheeses.
93 Points - James Suckling
Lots of black and green pepper in the nose, but also lots of blackberry fruit. Impressive concentration and full supple tannins that give this considerable power at the long velvety and earthy finish. Excellent aging potential, and that's rare in this vintage. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
90 Points - Wine Spectator
Taut and racy, in line with the leaner vintage, marked by smoked incense and meat notes layered with crunchy red currant and lavender. Reveals charred apple wood accents that add roundness to the palate, while generous salty mineral and graphite elements line the finish. Drink now through 2028.
