The Story
Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné Crozes-Hermitage Les Jalets 2021 is a juicy, supple, and crunchier expressions of 100% Syrah sourced from terraced vineyards in the Les Chassis plain of the Northern Rhône. The name "Jalets" comes from an old French word for the alpine glacier pebbles that carpet the soil, absorbing daytime heat and warming the vines by night. This organically farmed red wine opens with an expressive and fresh nose bursting with notes of wild cherries, forest berries, subtle licorice, smoke, and a delicate hint of black pepper. On the palate, it is light-to-medium-bodied and highly succulent, showcasing crunchy red berry fruits supported by smooth, silky tannins and a vibrant natural acidity that renders it beautifully approachable and refreshing.
Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with classic roasted rack of lamb, pan-seared flank steak with shallots, savory grilled pork sausages, and hard cheeses.
90 Points - James Suckling
