The Story
Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné Condrieu Les Cassines 2020 is an exceptional, organically grown white wine crafted entirely from 100% Viognier sourced from 20- to 30-year-old vines planted on the steep, south-facing granitic slopes of the Condrieu appellation. In the glass, it presents a brilliant pale yellow color with subtle green reflections. The nose is highly expressive and refined, revealing an intricate bouquet of white peach, fresh apricot, and orange blossom intertwined with complex nuances of crushed hazelnuts, dried herbs, and sweet spices. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied with an ample, beautifully rounded, and waxy texture that completely coats the mouth while maintaining great freshness. A juicy core of ripe stone fruits and zesty citrus oil is supported by a lively natural acidity and a subtle mineral tension, carrying through to a long, precise, and aromatic finish marked by delicate floral and stony undertones.
Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with pan-seared hot foie gras with mango, fresh langoustine salad with green apples, creamy chicken satay, and delicate soft goat cheeses.
93 Points - James Suckling
Aromas of peaches, thyme, cedar, flowers and sweet spices follow through to a medium body with fresh acidity. Vertical and well-framed with a good balance of juicy and zesty citrus fruit character. Round and ample texture coating the palate and in the precise finish. Drink or hold.
