Due to the intense subtropical climate of Northern India, an 11-year maturation experiences an aggressive angel's share, giving the whisky the depth and maturity of a much older spirit. Fully matured in ex-Bordeaux red wine casks and highly limited to just 1,100 bottles globally, this release balances the robust, jammy influence of the wine with the deeply spiced, rich character of Indri's signature malt. Bottled at a bold cask strength, it offers a deeply complex, luxurious, and full-bodied sipping experience.
Food Pairing: Slow-cooked lamb rogan josh, pan-seared duck breast with a spiced cherry reduction, or a rich dark chocolate and orange zest tart to beautifully complement the jammy dark fruits and oak tannins.
TASTING NOTES - Thick, oily, and syrupy in the glass, boasting a deep, rich mahogany hue. It feels remarkably robust, coating the mouth with an intensely full-bodied and luxurious texture.
NOSE - Extremely rich and jammy. Deep aromas of black cherry, red plum, and dark berries mingle with vanilla, polished oak, and baking spices. Subtle hints of orange zest, leather, and a soft, earthy undertone follow.
PALATE - Predominantly fruity with a wonderfully oily mouthfeel. A wave of bramble berries and guava is perfectly balanced by drying oak tannins and warm spice. Bold notes of nutmeg, ginger, and pink peppercorns transition into a creamy mid-palate of milk chocolate and rich toffee.
FINISH - Long, elegant, and gently drying. Leaves a lingering trail of stewed oranges, jammy dark fruits, a subtle hint of eucalyptus, and measured wood spice.
SERVE - Best served neat in a snifter or Glencairn glass to allow the intense wine-cask maturation to fully open up. A few drops of water can be added to temper the high proof and unlock softer vanilla and citrus notes.
