The Story
Compass Box Hedonism 2026 is the highly anticipated 2026 limited annual edition of the world's very first dedicated blended grain Scotch whisky, originally introduced in the year 2000. Created by Lead Whiskymaker Angela D'Orazio, the 2026 bottling represents the oldest and rarest interpretation of Hedonism ever released. It features highly mature grain components—including 30-year-old Strathclyde and 24-year-old Port Dundas—with some elements aged up to 31 years. Marking a historic first for the expression, antique sherry cask components accompany the classic first-fill bourbon and recharred American oak barrels. This addition imparts a darker, richer structure that beautifully layers deep wood sugars and complex fruit with Hedonism’s hallmark buttery sweetness.
Food Pairing: Coffee and walnut cake, chewy caramel stroopwafels, silky Parma ham paired with fresh pear slices, or sweet and salted popcorn.
TASTING NOTES - A brilliant, deep golden amber. It offers a luxurious, silky, and velvety mouthfeel that delivers a decadent and creamy coating across the palate with superb viscosity.
NOSE - Expressive and highly aromatic notes of rich vanilla custard, caffè latte, sweet butterscotch, and warm orange cream, balanced by toasted oak, soft pastry sweetness, and hints of marshmallow and cocoa powder.
PALATE - Indulgent and thick with layers of creamy nougat, toasted hazelnuts, fairground toffee apple, and bitter orange marmalade, complexly accented by fine wood sugars, vanilla bean, and delicate baking spices like gingerbread and nutmeg.
FINISH - Long, smooth, and poised with lingering notes of rich milk chocolate, sweet butterscotch, drying oak tannins, and a faint pinch of white pepper spice.
SERVE - Best served neat or slightly chilled in a large wine glass or a traditional Glencairn glass to allow its expansive, delicate aromas to fully open up.
