The Story
The GlenDronach 2013 10 Year Old PX Cask is a richly sherried Highland single malt, notably released as a Canadian exclusive. Matured for a decade in a combination of fine Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, this expression is non-chill filtered and presented at its natural color to preserve its robust depth. The nose offers a captivating dance of Seville blood orange, ripe cherry, roast chestnuts, and winter-spiced cocoa. On the palate, notes of sweet Valencia orange and Morello cherries emerge, followed by rolling waves of harvest-ripe barley, dark currants, praline toffee, and earthy brambles. It concludes with a satisfyingly long, lingering finish of orange-laced tobacco and warming nutmeg.
Food Pairing: This deeply sherried whisky pairs brilliantly with rich, dark chocolate desserts, such as a flourless chocolate torte or cocoa-dusted truffles. For a savory companion, try it with a charcuterie board featuring robust cured meats, roasted nuts, and strong, aged cheeses like an extra-aged Gouda or sharp cheddar to beautifully complement its fruity and nutty profile.
