The Story
Freemark Abbey Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 is a quintessentially classic and beautifully structured expression from one of Napa Valley's pioneering and historic estates. Pouring a deep garnet hue, this meticulously crafted blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 2% Malbec, 2% Petit Verdot, and 1% Cabernet Franc yields an inviting and complex nose of dark chocolate, blackberry, fresh pomegranate, cedar shavings, and subtle leather. On the palate, it is rich, bold, and delightfully fruit-forward. Generous flavors of blueberry compote, ripe black cherry, espresso, and sweet cigar box are beautifully framed by well-structured, fine-grained tannins and a bright, juicy natural acidity. Aged for 24 months in French oak barrels (41% new), this polished and highly approachable Cabernet concludes with a warm, beautifully integrated, and satisfyingly long finish, showcasing excellent potential in the cellar.
Food Pairing: Pairs brilliantly with a hearty ribeye steak, grilled venison, classic beef Wellington, roasted lamb chops, or aged Gouda cheese.
93 Points - Wine Enthusiast
This bold, ripe but nicely polished wine wraps black cherries, black currants and mint in moderate, fine-grained tannins that will help carry it for several years. Subtle cinnamon, clove and cedar accents keep it interesting on the finish. Best through 2030.
