The Story

Domaine Dugat-Py Monthélie Très Vieilles Vignes 2022 is a masterfully crafted red Burgundy that highlights the estate's expanded presence in the Côte de Beaune. Sourced from organic, exceptionally old massal-selection vines—some nearing 90 years of age—this village-level wine benefits from the low yields and sheer concentration typical of ancient root systems. Reflecting winemaker Loïc Dugat-Py’s modernized approach, the 2022 vintage moves away from heavy oak extraction, utilizing a thoughtful aging regime of 16 to 18 months in barrels with only 30% new oak. In the glass, it pours a pale, luminous ruby. The bouquet is highly sensual and inviting, offering open waves of ripe red berries, fresh raspberries, and wild strawberries, accented by violet perfume, forest floor, and a hint of bitter chocolate. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, remarkably pure, and velvety. The dense core of primary fruit effortlessly dissolves on the tongue, supported by silky, fine-grained tannins and a high, mouth-watering acidity that leaves a persistent, chalky finish.

Food Pairing: Roasted duck breast, roasted veal chops with chanterelle mushrooms, wild mushroom risotto, or coq au vin.
