The Story
Domaine Dugat-Py Bourgogne Rouge 2022 is a powerhouse regional red Burgundy produced by one of the most revered and meticulous domains in Gevrey-Chambertin. The 2022 vintage yielded beautifully ripe, expressive fruit, resulting in a Bourgogne Rouge that displays remarkable depth and old-vine concentration well beyond its regional classification. Grown entirely under strict organic practices, the wine undergoes traditional, low-intervention vinification and is aged for 15 to 18 months in French oak casks before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. In the glass, it shows a luminous, deep ruby hue, revealing a highly aromatic nose packed with fresh redcurrants, dark cherries, and wild raspberries, complexed by savory elements of cracked black pepper, wet stone minerality, smoky oak, and dried flowers. The palate is medium-bodied yet densely textured, balancing the classic, muscular structure and fine-grained tannins characteristic of the Dugat-Py style with a vibrant, refreshing core of acidity. While incredibly expressive in its youth, its balance and concentration ensure it will evolve gracefully over the next several years.
Food Pairing: Pan-seared duck breast, roasted pork tenderloin, Coq au Vin, wild mushroom risotto, or mild semi-hard cheeses like Comté.
