The Story
Cristom's signature Pinot Noir exemplifies their commitment to traditional winemaking—whole-cluster fermentation with native yeasts, prolonged French oak aging, and an unfiltered approach. The result is a wine of remarkable depth and nuance that drinks beautifully now while offering exceptional quality for the price.
Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with a charcoal-grilled ribeye steak, roasted rosemary lamb chops, slow-cooked venison stew, wild mushroom burgers, or mature, hard artisanal cheeses.
94 Points - James Suckling
A lively, precise and well-composed pinot with notes of sour cherries, red currants, crushed roses and mild spices on the nose, followed through to a medium body with bright acidity. It’s crisp and spot-on, with succulent wild berries at the center and verve throughout. Drink or hold.
94 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
The 2022 Pinot Noir Mt. Jefferson Cuvee is gorgeous out of the gate, offering a floral and fresh profile revealing notes of incense and ripe wild raspberries. Medium-bodied and elegant but structured, it has a mouth-filling, rich texture, with ripe tannins and great energy. The acidity is even and ripe, but there's still vibrant energy to it.
91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2022 Mt. Jefferson Cuvée Pinot Noir includes three-quarters estate fruit and one-quarter purchased fruit sourced from across the Eola-Amity Hills. Fifty-two percent whole clusters were used, and the wine was matured for 10 months in 22% new French oak. It has layered aromas of cranberry sauce, pomegranate, cardamom, forest floor and mushrooms. The medium-bodied palate features concentrated layers of earth-laced fruit structured by clay-textured tannins and vibrant acidity, and it has a long, spicy finish.
