The Story

The Craigellachie 37 Year Old is a rare and monumental small-batch release that exemplifies the distillery’s muscular and "old-fashioned" Speyside style. Distilled in 1984, it was matured for over three decades in refill casks to preserve the spirit's natural weight before being finished in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels to add decadent complexity. The nose is opulent, featuring signature notes of roasted pineapple, tarte Tatin, and toasted banana bread, balanced by hints of soft cereals and creamy vanilla. On the palate, the whisky is exceptionally oily and complex, delivering flavours of coconut oil, bright citrus, and almonds, underpinned by a distinct leathery oak and a subtle wisp of smoky embers. The finish is long and indulgent, marked by lingering notes of sweet spice and roasted nuts.

Food Pairing: Perfectly complements dark chocolate torte, apple tart, roasted nuts (almonds or hazelnuts), or savory dishes like braised venison and aged Gouda cheese.

TASTING NOTES - A remarkably bright straw-gold appearance with a boldly complex, gently oily mouthfeel that perfectly carries its impressive age.

NOSE - Opulent aromas of pineapple tarte tatin, crème anglaise, soft cereals, and toasted banana bread, all underscored by a faint whisper of smoke.

FINISH - Long, indulgent, and lingering, leaving beautifully integrated notes of warm oak spices, delicate dried fruit, and a touch of honey.

SERVE - Best enjoyed neat to experience its unhurried 37-year maturation, or with a few drops of water to reveal subtle fire embers, spicy vanilla, and delicate oak-derived coconut.
