Código 1530 Añejo Tequila is an ultra-premium, certified additive-free spirit produced in the historic Lowlands town of Amatitán. Originally an closely guarded, unnamed private recipe enjoyed exclusively by a select group of Mexican families and golf buddies (including country music legend George Strait), it honors traditional distilling generations. Crafted from fully ripe, 100% blue Weber agave cooked in low-pressure autoclaves, it undergoes a highly unique maturation process: it is aged for 18 months exclusively in premium French white oak barrels that previously held Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon wine. This wine-cask maturation lends the tequila a sophisticated, elegantly rounded profile that sets it apart from traditional ex-bourbon barrel iterations.
Food Pairing: Slow-cooked beef barbacoa, rich chicken mole, dark chocolate lava cake, or an artisanal charcuterie board with dried figs and walnuts.
TASTING NOTES Luminous amber with copper reflections and a velvety, medium-to-full bodied mouthfeel that coats the palate smoothly.
NOSE Expressive and elegant; opens with rich aromas of sweet vanilla fudge, butterscotch, and toasted French oak, beautifully balanced by underlying cooked agave, dried dark fruits, and a faint hint of red wine tannins.
PALATE A refined and complex delivery on the tongue; forward flavors of caramelized agave, creamy vanilla, and honey are cleanly met by a refreshing wave of orchard fruits, baking spices, light orange peel, and a soft, drying wood tannin.
FINISH Clean, dry, and elegant, leaving a lingering trail of soft caramel, black pepper spice, and a beautiful whisper of oak char.
SERVE Highly recommended to enjoy strictly neat or over a single large ice cube in a spirits snifter, though it makes a magnificent, upscale base for a Tequila Old Fashioned.
