The Story
Crafted from old vines in exceptional Châteauneuf-du-Pape parcels, Château Maucoil Privilège reveals intense aromas of blackberry, black cherry, plum, garrigue herbs, licorice, cocoa, and cracked pepper. Richly concentrated yet impeccably balanced, it delivers velvety tannins, vibrant freshness, remarkable depth, and an exceptionally long, elegant finish.
Food Pairing: Pair with herb-crusted lamb, grilled ribeye, duck confit, venison, beef daube, truffle potatoes, aged Gruyère, or wild mushroom dishes.
93 Points - James Suckling
The sweet-berry and meat aromas and flavors show both balance and intensity. It’s not overdone. Full-bodied, yet fresh with layered tannins. Earth and dried fruit come out at the end. Drink now.
92 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Matured 12 to18 months in oak, this Grenache-dominant blend (accented by smaller proportions of Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault) has concentrated flavors of blackberry preserve and dried plum. Voluminous but freshly balanced, the velvety black-fruit flavors are muted by earthen shades of granite, dried sage and char. Ready now, the wine should drink at peak through 2028.
