The Story
Château La Nerthe Côtes-du-Rhône Les Cassagnes Blanc 2024 is an exceptionally elegant, refreshing, and organically grown French white wine that showcases a beautiful alternative expression from the Southern Rhône. Sourced from the highest terraces of the Domaine de la Renjarde vineyard, where the vines are enveloped by lush green oak forests ("les cassagnes"), this cuvée thrives on soils rich in sand, clay, and calcareous rock shards. It pours a brilliant pale yellow with subtle greenish glints. The nose is highly expressive and seductive, bursting with crisp aromas of fresh pear, white peach, and vibrant lime zest, gracefully intertwined with delicate notes of white flowers, orange peel, and stone fruit. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, achieving a delightful structural balance that is simultaneously cool, creamy, and subtly waxy. A focused core of citrus and yellow tree fruits is lifted by a lovely lemony freshness and a distinct undercurrent of mineral tension. Vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats and aged on its fine lees for nearly six months, this pristine white blend finishes with an elegant, clean focus.
Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with fresh seafood, vegetable risotto, herbed roasted chicken, and delicate goat cheeses.
92 Points - James Suckling
At once cool and creamy, even waxy, on the lively medium-bodied palate, an unusual combination for this appellation. Attractive white-flower and stone-fruit aromas. Very nice lemony freshness in the finish. A cuvee of 32% viognier, 28% grenache blanc, 24% roussanne and 16% marsanne.
