The Story

A refined Pauillac with expressive aromas of cassis, blackberry, graphite, cedar, tobacco, and violet. Elegant yet concentrated, it delivers silky tannins, vibrant freshness, exceptional balance, and remarkable depth with excellent long-term aging potential.

Food Pairing: Pair with beef Wellington, roast lamb, venison, duck breast, truffle dishes, aged Comté, or wild mushroom risotto.

95 Points - James Suckling

Already showing impressive depth, this wine is packed with ripe, chewy tannins and generous blackcurrant fruit layered with hints of tobacco. Long, structured and powerful, it has excellent aging potential. Produced from biodynamically grown grapes.

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast

Rich tannins, generous black fruits and an opulent personality define this outstanding Pauillac. Crafted by the same winemaking team behind Ferrière and La Gurgue in Margaux, it comes from an estate now fully committed to biodynamic viticulture. Drink from 2025.

92 Points - Decanter

A powerful, deeply structured Pauillac with chewy tannins and considerable aging potential. Rich damson fruit is framed by oak, with touches of warmth on the finish. Produced during the estate's conversion to organic and biodynamic farming, it was matured in 40% new oak under consultant Eric Boissenot.

92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2016 Haut-Bages Libéral offers a focused, confident bouquet with greater richness than previous vintages while retaining its distinctive character. Medium-bodied with fine tannins, it layers blackberry and boysenberry fruit with subtle oyster shell minerality before finishing with elegance and admirable depth. While understated today, it promises to become a delicious Pauillac with bottle age.

92 Points - Wine Spectator

A sleek, classically styled Pauillac, featuring bright iron and chalky minerality framing vibrant red currant, cherry and violet flavors. Persistent, focused and firmly structured, it is built for patience. Best from 2024 through 2038.
