97 Points - Jeb Dunnuck

Quite possibly the finest vintage of this cuvée I've tasted, the 2020 Château Canon-La-Gaffelière offers the rare combination of richness and elegance that defines the vintage. Aromas of cassis, ripe black cherries, spring flowers and truffle lead into a full-bodied, perfectly balanced palate with beautiful tannins and an exceptional finish. This outstanding Saint-Émilion will benefit from 4–6 years of bottle age and evolve gracefully over the next 20–30 years.

97 Points - Vinous

The 2020 Canon La Gaffelière is heady, sumptuous and wonderfully exotic. A wine of remarkable depth and intensity, it displays tremendous balance from the outset. Ripe red plum, blood orange, pomegranate, spice and leather unfold effortlessly, while time in the glass reveals even greater purity and complexity. A blend of 55% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. A wine with tremendous aging potential.

96 Points - James Suckling

Beautiful clarity with aromas of redcurrants, fresh herbs, blackcurrants, cherry and delicate stem notes. Medium- to full-bodied with very fine, tightly knit tannins. It builds gracefully across the palate, finishing with outstanding length, elegance and precision.

95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

A blend of 50% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2020 Canon La Gaffelière opens with inviting aromas of dark berries, plums, burning embers, rose petals, incense and bay leaf. Medium- to full-bodied, velvety and layered, it is suave and perfumed, featuring melting, powdery tannins and a vibrant core of fruit. The elevated Cabernet Franc content gives the wine its distinctive personality.

95 Points - Wine Enthusiast

Richly structured and impressively dense, this wine combines expressive blackberry fruit with powerful tannins. Its concentration and balance promise excellent aging potential.

95 Points - Wine Spectator

Ripe, fresh and expressive, offering vibrant mulberry, boysenberry and blackberry purée flavors accented by subtle sanguine notes, black tea and lightly singed applewood. Harmonious and refined, with a long finish. Blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2029 through 2040.

94 Points - Decanter

Concentrated and intense, with juicy licorice and blackberry flavors leading the attack. Beautiful tension is provided by slate and crushed stone minerality, while chocolate shavings add depth and a pleasantly bitter edge to the finish. The wine became even more impressive after 24 hours of air, an excellent sign of its future potential. Yield of 32.5 hl/ha. Aged in 50% new oak.
