The Story

This iconic Hermitage reveals concentrated aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, violet, smoked meat, black pepper, graphite, and earthy spice. Full-bodied and powerful, the palate delivers layered dark fruit, firm yet refined tannins, vibrant acidity, and an exceptionally long, complex, age-worthy finish.

Food Pairing: Beef tenderloin, roast lamb, venison, duck confit, wild mushroom dishes, braised short ribs, and aged hard cheeses.

95 Points - James Suckling

A balanced yet intense, textural and inspired Hermitage. It showcases dark berries, dark plums, warm herbs, dried tobacco leaves and hints of peppery cured meat. Medium- to full-bodied with fine tannins. Refined texture to the dense fruit. Lots of spices and some dark chocolate appear in the long, savory finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink from 2028.

94 Points - Wine Spectator

Powerful and broad, with a firming, bitter spine of iron supporting brambly berry and plum notes. Smolders with intensity, offering dark, savory undercurrents of black pepper, charred anise and mineral. Black tea tannins show real grip on the dry, gutsy finish. Give this some time to mellow out. Best from 2027 through 2040. 130 cases imported.
