The Story

Castiglion del Bosco Brunello di Montalcino 2019 is a magnificent, highly refined expression of 100% Sangiovese reflecting an exceptional growing season in Tuscany. Sourced from the estate's organically farmed Capanna vineyard in the northwestern zone of Montalcino, this wine underwent natural fermentation followed by 24 months of maturation in French oak barrels. It possesses a bright, luminous ruby-red color, introducing an aromatic bouquet of ripe cherries, wild strawberries, and mandarin orange blossoms seamlessly woven with hints of cedar, sweet tobacco, and fresh Mediterranean herbs. The medium-to-full-bodied palate reveals a creamy texture, weightless concentration, and crisp acidity, wrapped in beautifully integrated, fine-grained tannins that carry into an incredibly long, vivid, and mineral-driven finish.

Food Pairing: Pairs perfectly with slow-braised wild boar, grilled Florentine steaks, roasted rosemary leg of lamb, or aged Pecorino Toscano cheese.

96 Points - James Suckling

This is really fine on the palate with wonderfully integrated tannins that give tension and focus. It’s medium-bodied with lovely berry, cherry, cedar and spice. Peaches and flower stems, too. Creamy texture. Extremely long and vivid. Structured, but showing beautiful drinkability with wonderful balance and form. One to drink or hold.

94 Points - Wine Spectator

Cherry, plum, leather, earth and tomato leaf flavors highlight this broad, beefy red, with iron and sanguine accents creeping in as this winds down on the finish. Succulent and long, with a dusty grip in the end. Best from 2027 through 2043.

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast

The nose starts floral, with aromas of roses, vanilla and cherry, then turns earthy, before spiced undertones of cloves and bergamot float to the surface. The cherries return on the palate, with more bitter citrus and earth tones, while finely grained tannins tickle the back of your tongue.
