The Story

This remarkably sophisticated, deep, and beautifully structured organic Italian red wine from the monumental 2021 vintage represents the pinnacle of the estate's old-vine viticulture. It opens with an authoritative, highly complex bouquet of dark marasca cherries, wild blackberries, and crushed red plums, masterfully woven with sophisticated notes of warm leather, damp tobacco leaf, iron ore, dried Mediterranean rosemary, and a subtle touch of spicy clove. On the medium-to-full-bodied palate, it showcases an impeccable vertical architecture, driving an incredibly concentrated, fruit-pure core of dark stone fruits with an energetic regional acidity. A firm, seamlessly integrated line of chalky, tightly wound tannins anchors the beautifully textured mid-palate, carrying into an extraordinarily long, bone-dry, and deeply savory finish marked by a clean graphite resonance.

Food Pairing: A majestic partner for fine Tuscan gastronomy; pairs flawlessly with Bistecca alla Fiorentina, roasted wild boar ragù over pappardelle, slow-braised lamb shanks with rosemary, or well-matured pecorino di Pienza cheeses.

93 Points - Wine Spectator

This fresh, juicy red exudes cherry, raspberry, hibiscus tea and iron aromas and flavors. Crisp and firm yet balanced, with plenty of fruit to match the vivid acidity and light grip of tannins. Best from 2027 through 2045. 4,000 cases made, 1,200 cases imported.

91 Points - James Suckling

Red berry fruit like pomegranates, cranberries and sour cherries on the nose alongside tomato leaves and bark. It’s medium-bodied, fresh and pleasantly rustic, with a nicely firm finish. Drink now or in the next few years.
