The Story

A legendary, collector-level Italian red wine presented in an elite large format from an iconic, benchmark vintage. The highly complex and muscular nose opens with an intense bouquet of wild red berries, crushed raspberry, and dried violets, beautifully layered with contours of earthy leather, black licorice, and fragrant tobacco. On the palate, it delivers spectacular depth and concentration, framing a tight, jewel-like inner core of dark cherry fruit with a sleek, refreshing line of natural acidity and powerful, fine-grained structural tannins that extend into an extraordinarily long, resonant finish.

Food Pairing: Pairs magnificently with slow-braised beef brisket, rich white truffle risotto, roasted wild boar, or aged Parmigiano-Reggiano.

91 Points - Wine Enthusiast

Coconut, camphor, violet and sandalwood aromas mingle with an earthy whiff of truffle. On the full-bodied, no-frills palate, firm rather grainy tannins accompany dried cherry, licorice and tobacco before an assertive, clenching finish. Drink after 2026.

95 Points - James Suckling

Ripe and rich Barolo with dried-berry and chocolate aromas and flavors and hints of hazelnuts. It’s full-bodied with rich, ripe tannins and a flavorful finish. Give it two or three years to soften. Better after 2022.

93 Points - Wine Spectator

Plenty of tannic clout signals this cherry and currant-flavored Barolo. Its solid structure supports the fruit and secondary notes of eucalyptus, juniper, mown hay and stone. Though slim, it persists, and there is plenty to like despite the stiff tannins. Best from 2023 through 2043. 650 cases made, 250 cases imported.
