The Story
Bardstown Ferrand Cognac Cask Bourbon is an exceptional limited-release expression from Bardstown Bourbon Company’s acclaimed Collaborative Series, crafted in partnership with France’s prestigious Maison Ferrand. This masterfully executed spirit blends three high-aged Kentucky straight bourbons (9, 11, and 12 years old) with a touch of Bardstown’s own 6-year-old straight rye whiskey. The blend is then finished for a full 15 months in exceptional Maison Ferrand Cognac barrels. This meticulous process merges robust American whiskey character with refined French elegance, resulting in a deeply complex, fruit-forward, and highly sought-after pour.
Food Pairing: This exceptionally layered and fruit-forward whiskey pairs beautifully with rich desserts like pecan pie, baked apple tart, or a caramelized fruit pastry. On the savory side, it complements a high-end charcuterie board featuring rich pâté, aged cheeses, and dried apricots or prunes.
TASTING NOTES - A dark, rich amber liquid that feels deeply viscous, full-bodied, and oily in the glass, beautifully showcasing its extended maturation and French Cognac cask finish.
NOSE - Highly aromatic and intricate. Enticing aromas of French vanilla, black cherry, and white chocolate are perfectly layered with notes of sandalwood, toasted almond, and subtle floral undertones.
Palate - Rich, oily, and mouth-coating. It delivers waves of baked apple, grilled peach, and pecan praline, seamlessly transitioning into deeper flavors of dark raisin, manuka honey, and warm cinnamon spice.
FINISH - Exceptionally long and complex, leaving a lingering impression of oak-laden tannins, dark chocolate, dried apricot, and a final, refreshing kiss of rye mint.
SERVE - Best enjoyed neat in a Glencairn glass to fully appreciate its robust complexity and elegant Cognac finish, or with a single drop of water to unlock further fruit and floral aromas.
