The Story
Aultmore 15 Sweet Marsala Cask Finish is a wonderfully indulgent, limited-edition Speyside single malt Scotch whisky that beautifully marries the distillery's delicate, grassy signature with the rich warmth of Sicilian wine. Part of a specialized Marsala Wine Cask Collection overseen by Malt Master Stephanie Macleod, this expression is first matured for 15 years in refill American oak hogsheads before undergoing a six-month finishing period in Marsala Superiore Ambra Secco casks. The Ambra style, which derives its beautiful amber hue from cooked grape must, provides a mellow, measured sweetness that layers the dram without becoming cloying. The nose and palate open with aromas of honeyed figs, golden raisins, and vanilla custard, evolving into richer flavors of toasted walnuts, sun-ripened mandarin oranges, and a soft, warming whisper of cinnamon and nutmeg. It is bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered, and retains its completely natural color.
Food Pairing: Pairs exquisitely with warm fig tarts, roasted walnuts, orange zest dark chocolate, honey-glazed pork belly, or a creamy dessert like crème brûlée.
