Auchentoshan The Bartenders Malt Vol. 01 is a highly unique and experimental Lowland single malt Scotch whisky born from a groundbreaking collaboration. Created "by bartenders, for bartenders," it is the culmination of the brand’s "New Malt Order" competition, where 12 of the world's most innovative bartenders vatted a completely custom single malt. This non-chill-filtered expression breaks traditional rules by marrying triple-distilled malts spanning five decades (from the 1970s to the 2010s) aged across an unconventional array of casks—including American oak, European oak, ex-rum barrels, red wine barriques, German oak, and even ex-laphrig peat casks—resulting in a robust profile perfectly engineered to shine in craft cocktails.
Food Pairing: Rich fruit tarts, milk-chocolate covered ginger, rum-soaked brioche, or sticky barbecue pulled pork.
TASTING NOTES Golden amber and honeyed in appearance with a remarkably viscous, textured, and slightly dry mouthfeel.
NOSE Expressive and complex, opening with dried apricots, cherry blossom, and fresh green apple, layered with warm cinnamon, toffee, and a faint, sweet wisp of rum cake.
PALATE A bold and punchy delivery of sweet honeycomb, ginger root, and vanilla, quickly met by deeper, drying layers of red wine tannins, black pepper, and a subtle undertone of earthy smoke.
FINISH Long and satisfyingly warming with lingering hints of orange liqueur, dark treacle, aniseed, and a crisp ginger-spiced dryness.
SERVE Specifically crafted to be an exceptional cocktail component (stellar in a modern Whisky Sour, Boulevardier, or Highball), but punchy enough to enjoy on the rocks.
