Ardnamurchan Madeira Cask Release 2025 is a captivating and textural Highland single malt Scotch whisky that brilliantly balances sweet wine influences with coastal character. Distilled in 2018, this limited-edition release utilizes a composition of roughly 57% unpeated and 43% peated spirit. The liquid was initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels before undergoing a secondary finishing period of over two years in rich Madeira wine casks. The nose opens with notes of cocoa powder, stewed plums, sugared almonds, and warm nutmeg. On the palate, it unfolds with layers of cinnamon candy, salted trail mix, dark chocolate, toffee apple, and fresh rosemary, all pinned down by a gentle, piney peat smoke and a whisper of maritime minerality. It is bottled with its natural color and without chill filtration.
