The Story

A masterpiece of alpine winemaking from northern Piedmont, Antoniolo Gattinara Riserva is a deeply complex, majestic, and soul-stirring expression of 100% Nebbiolo. In the glass, it reveals a luminous, translucent garnet-red color with classic orange-brick reflections. The bouquet is remarkably aristocratic and slow-evolving, unfolding with a gorgeous array of dried red cherries, wild cranberries, and orange zest, seamlessly layered with tertiary nuances of sweet pipe tobacco, black truffles, forest floor, and dried autumnal roses. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, linear, and powerfully built. A deeply concentrated core of racy red fruit and savory licorice is framed by noble, tightly knit tannins and a driving, laser-like alpine acidity. The finish is exceptionally long, dry, and mineral-driven, leaving an unforgettable trail of crushed volcanic stone, iron, and exotic spice.

Food Pairing: A monumental wine built for rich, savory dishes. Pairs magnificently with traditional slow-braised beef in Nebbiolo, roasted wild boar, grilled venison loin, mushroom and truffle risottos, or aged cheeses like Castelmagno.
