The Story

Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Bottled-In-Bond Bourbon is a fascinating, boundary-defying release from the Louisville distiller that marks two massive firsts for the brand. Master Distiller Owen Martin pulled off a legal and technical marvel: it is Angel's Envy’s first-ever unfinished straight bourbon, and it is uniquely bottled at cask strength while strictly adhering to Bottled-in-Bond regulations.

To legally wear the "Bottled-in-Bond" badge, a whiskey must be exactly 100 proof, from one distillation season, by one distiller, and aged for at least 4 years in a federally bonded warehouse. While almost every other distillery achieves 100 proof by adding water to dilute higher-proof bourbon, Angel’s Envy did not add a single drop. By utilizing an incredibly low barrel entry proof of 103 and aging the barrels in the coolest, most humid pockets of their warehouse, the whiskey naturally mellowed in alcohol as it matured. Martin then masterfully blended 27 lower-proof barrels with two higher-proof barrels from the Spring 2018 season to naturally strike exactly 100 proof straight out of the wood.

Food Pairing: Vanilla wafer banana pudding, light fruit tarts, honey-glazed ham, or mild creamy cheeses.

TASTING NOTES Toasted liquid gold in color with a dense, surprisingly viscous, and rich mouthfeel that drinks far more texturally substantial than a typical watered-down 100-proof bourbon.

NOSE Light and invitingly sweet, offering prominent notes of lightly caramelized sugars, vanilla wafers with a hint of banana pudding, peach pie, and a touch of lemon chiffon.

PALATE Beautifully sweet and balanced on the tongue; flavors of sweet baked apples, honey latte, and light fruit syrup are seamlessly supported by a structured backbone of toasted oak, fire-cured tobacco, and faint baking spice.

FINISH Soft, elegant, and rounded; the flavors fade gently with trailing notes of clean vanilla, black pepper, mild barrel char, and an increasingly dry cinnamon apple pie finish.

SERVE Exceptional when enjoyed neat in a Glencairn glass to appreciate the raw purity of the un-cut, un-watered texture, or over a single large ice cube.
